This is my story of the forewarning and comfort God gave to me. God kept giving me the bible verses Isaiah 40:31.
I was later to learn why. My husband started going through a mid-life crisis and decided he wanted a divorce. I was devastated! He bought a motorcycle and started going to bars instead of church. I turned to God and realized he had been preparing me with the verse he had given me. I never would have made it through without God. He gave me such peace! He sent me a prayer partner who was already divorced, but standing strong in the faith that God would restore her marriage.
We prayed faithfully for God to restore our marriages. Even though her husband was engaged to be married and my husband had gotten a young woman pregnant. God led me to move to another church. My family was torn apart, my children humiliated by the fact their father (who had such a strong witness) was dating girls their age, and now I was losing my church family as well! But, I kept my eyes on God. I had developed such a strong and close relationship with Him through all of this; I had faith He would see me through.
I prayed constantly for God to give my husband back to me. I asked others to pray the same prayer. My prayer partner and I prayed and drew strength from each other. It was going on a year. My husband’s Christian friends tried to talk to him. He told them when the summer was over he would put away his motorcycle and get back in church. He told me God dealt with him every day. Sadly, he wanted to listen on his own terms.
One Wednesday night in church service, I felt God comforting me. On the way home God told me I would not get my husband back, but I would be alright. I had such a sense of peace and happiness flood over me! I rushed to my dad’s to tell him what God had told me. It was there I received a call telling me my husband was in a motorcycle wreck. I raced to the hospital only to learn my husband had died!
I later found out he died at the same time God had told me I would not get him back. God prepared me in advance for what was to come. He then told me when my husband died and gave me comfort before I even realized what had happened. There were many hard trying times after that. But, true to his word God took care of me and gave me peace. I am now happily remarried to a wonderful Christian man. C.B.L.
